Founded in 2019, Muslims Women Advancement of Rights and Protection is a Non-Governmental Organization with a focus on Coastal Counties and Garissa. MWARPs focus has consistently been on women’s rights at the heart of everything we do.
MWARP uses bold, innovative and holistic interventions for the realization of women’s rights. Our programs have over the years focused on challenging practices that undermine equity, equality and constitutionalism, promoting women’s participation in decision making and building the women’s financial resilience through economic empowerment.

To actualize and advance women’s and girls’ social economic, legal and civil rights.

A just society where women and girls realize, embrace and enjoy their full rights and dignity
MWARP collaborates with dedicated individuals, both men and women, for women and girls’ well-being. We also partner with like-minded organizations. For example, we are part of the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) working group in Kilifi, Kwale, and Lamu Counties. MWARP is a member of the Court Users Committee in these counties, with MWARP serving as treasurer in Lamu.
Additionally, MWARP is a member of the CSOs network in Lamu, Kilifi, and Kwale, holding the secretary role in Kilifi. We are also part of the Migration and Preventing/Countering Violent Extremism Technical Working Group (MPCVE TWG), a component of the Kenya UN Network on Migration (KUNNM).
This platform focuses on monitoring and mitigating risks related to migration and P/CVE, with MWARP’s active participation, particularly in addressing human trafficking, a commitment aligned with our peace and security efforts.
Furthermore, MWARP is a member of the Network for Religious and Traditional Peacemakers Sub-Saharan Africa Working Group, which fosters collaboration among various actors in Sub-Saharan Africa to promote peacebuilding, mediation, and conflict transformation, enhancing active cooperation between religious, traditional, and other stakeholders.
